Plan Your Transport
Canopy Cortina is located approximately 20 minutes from central Hakuba and winter travel can require additional planning, particularly for larger groups.
Private Transfer (Recommended)
For the easiest arrival experience, we recommend arranging a direct transfer from your airport, hotel or train station to Canopy Cortina. This is particularly convenient for larger groups travelling with ski equipment and luggage.
Please note – we cannot accommodate your arrival prior to 16:00 check-in.

- Considerations:
- Smaller minibuses can access the chalet more easily than larger coaches, particularly during periods of heavy snowfall.
- Large coaches may not always be able to access the chalet entrance directly. Guests may need to be dropped at a nearby Hotel Green Plaza (100m), we will assist in transporting guests or luggage to the chalet from here. This can be arranged separately.
- Therefore, it is also worth considering if multiple smaller minibuses or vehicles are more suitable than a single large coach, depending on group size, luggage requirements and road conditions.
Public Transport (to Hakuba)
Bus
‘Highway Buses’ are a good option if travelling from Tokyo to Hakuba.
The coach leaves from the Shinjuku Expressway Bus Terminal.
This transit option is ideal if you plan to stay in Tokyo first before making your way to Hakuba.
All services are limousine coaches, with comfort stops along the way. This journey takes approximately 5 hours.
Use the link below to make your reservation, as times can get booked out during the Winter Season. It is recommended to book far in advance if planning to travel in a large group.
Guests travelling by bus may wish to consider Tsugaike as an arrival and departure point due to its proximity to Canopy Cortina.

Train
The direct express train to/from Shinjuku – Hakuba.
TRAVEL TIME: 3 hours 40 minutes
FARE PRICES: ¥9,050~ per adult (12 and older), and ¥5,020~ for kids between 6-11. Children aged 5 and under are free if they sit in non-reserved seating.
- Azusa 5: Leaves daily at 8:00 from Shinjuku Station (platform 9) and goes directly to Hakuba Station, arriving at 11:40.
- Azusa 46: The only direct train (no transfers) leaving Hakuba daily at 15:16 and arriving at Shinjuku Station at 19:06.

Shinkansen + Bus
The fastest way to reach Hakuba from Tokyo is by taking the Shinkansen (bullet train) from Tokyo Station to Nagano Station. There is no direct shinkansen to Hakuba.
Here’s the journey:
- Local train to Ueno or Tokyo Station.
- Shinkansen from Ueno or Tokyo Station to Nagano Station.
- Coach/Bus from Nagano Station to Hakuba Happo Bus Terminal or Hakuba Station (There is no train from Nagano to Hakuba).
TRAVEL TIME: 3.5 hours (for shinkansen + coach)
FARE PRICES: ¥12,400~ per adult and ¥6,200~ per child.

Book Your Bus Tickets:
To get the coach from Nagano Station to Hakuba, head out of the East Exit at Nagano Station, and line-up at bus stop #26
Book tickets in advance to avoid a long queue.
Follow these steps in reverse for planning your journey back to Tokyo. Get your bus to Nagano from Tsugaike bus terminal, if possible, to make your check out day more seamless.
Hakuba -> Canopy Transport
Arrival
If your group intends to use the complimentary Canopy vehicles or requires assistance accessing the property from Hakuba or Tsugaike, please provide as much information as possible in the Canopy Guest Pre-Arrival Information Form. Once we have reviewed your arrival details, we will contact you if any additional planning or coordination is required.
Please note that arrival assistance and vehicle handovers cannot be facilitated before 16:00 and guests should plan their travel arrangements accordingly.
Guests travelling by bus may wish to consider Tsugaike as an arrival and departure point due to its proximity to Canopy Cortina.
For groups using the complimentary Canopy vehicles, staff can assist with the initial vehicle handover from an pre-arranged location in Hakuba. Following vehicle handover, guests should utilise the complimentary Canopy vehicles to transport additional members of their group to and from the chalet if required.
If you’ve booked ski rental with Central Snow Sports or Rhythm, please contact them directly for pick-up. Once you’ve been fitted, Canopy can provide arrival assistance from the store, from 16:00 onwards.
Please note that Canopy is unable to provide multiple transfers if your group is arriving separately.

Departure
Guests using the complimentary Canopy cars may be able to utilise them to access their departure location on check-out day.
Please note, Canopy complimentary cars must be returned to Canopy by 10:00 on check-out day. One of our staff will be waiting to bring the driver(s) to their departure location.
For guests travelling by bus, Tsugaike Bus Stop is often the most convenient departure point from Canopy and may simplify departure arrangements for larger groups.
Please note that check-out is by 10:00am.
Once we review your arrival and departure plans (from the Guest Pre-Arrival Form) we will be in touch to finalise arrival/departure assistance logistics.
